The State of Tourism and Creative Art amonsgt many other important sectors was addressed by the President at SONA 19′ which lit an unquenchable fire on social media yesterday as a fraction of the populace believe the President had been misinformed by the Minister of Tourism on the actual state of the nation’s Tourist and Art sites, specifically the Apatakese Ase in Kumasi and the Eastern Regional Theatre.

“Mr. Speaker, we are continuing with initiatives to improve the Creative Arts Sector. We have also worked to finalise the Creative Arts Bill, leading to the setting up of the Creative Arts Fund. For the first time, in 2018, Government provided support to the Creative Arts Council, and the Creative Arts Masterclass, to build capacity of Creative Arts practitioners, has also commenced. The Eastern Regional Theatre has been completed, and work is currently ongoing towards the construction of the Kumasi theatre.” -H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo said.

The P.R.O of Ghana Actors Guild, Mr. Emmanuel Nii Adjetey has issued a statement expressing his displeasure towards an audio circulating on social media claiming the President was lied to by the Minister of Tourism about refurbishment of Apatakese Ase theatre in Kumasi and Koforidua Theatre.

According to Mr. Adjetey, the information about the Apatakese Ase theatre under refurbishment is absolutely true and that the people should ignore that information in the audio.

“It looks like some people are being misinformed or do not understand the subject matter. The Minister has not lied and the President not been misinformed”. – he wrote.

Mr. Nii Adjetey said in the writ, that he believes the people behind this allegation are only ignorant and their argument holds no ‘water’.

“I therefore, on behalf the Executive and the membership asking that we should ignore those audios that are making rounds out of ignorance and let us take our time to read the state of the nation address again and get true meaning of what was said on the industry”.- Mr. Nii Adjetey
